Frequently Asked Questions
A) Hypnosis is a therapeutic process where a certified practitioner tries to lead the client into a state of deep trance-like relaxed state of mind and body. The client is led by words into a state of heightened awareness, just above the sleep state, to reach into the subconscious and the unconscious mind. This is done in an effort to explore the source of a problem, and may to bring about profound change and healing.*
A) Generally speaking, the conscious mind rules what we think and do, but the unconscious and subconscious mind may have the power to make necessary changes and eliminate unwanted thought patterns, behaviors, habits, fears, phobias, addictions and mannerisms. In hypnosis the therapist talks the clients into a deep sleep-like, but highly aware, state of mind, in an attempt to help them tap into their unconscious mind to help bring about the change and healing. Results vary with individuals.
A) In a hypnosis session, the client is guided into a relaxed state of mind and body called the trance state, where suggestions are made to the subconscious mind. The root cause of the problem may be explored by tapping into the power of subconscious or unconscious mind. This exploration may give the client a better understanding of the underlying motivations for the emotional and behavioral difficulties. Trained hypnotherapists use guided imagery to try and bring about the positive changes. In a typical session, the client is gently guided with words into a deeply relaxed state of mind and various therapeutic techniques are used to understand the problem and heal. The client is then guided out of the hypnotic state with positive affirmation, and reinforcing of positive feelings experienced in the session, into a normal awake state.
