Reiki

What is Reiki?

The word Reiki derives from the Japanese words Rei (spirit, miraculous, divine) and Ki (vital energy, breath of life, consciousness), in turn, derived from the Chinese term ling qi, meaning 'supernatural influence.'

Reiki, literally meaning 'mysterious atmosphere', is translated as universal life energy, spiritual/vital energy, or life force/energy.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient Japanese alternate healing and wellness system wherein a person's bio-magnetic energy, or aura, is channeled to heal their mind, body, and spirit.* It may balance thoughts and emotions, and maybe valuable in the quest for spiritual growth.*

A spiritual practice developed by Japanese Buddhist

Dr Mikao Usui in 1922, Reiki uses the process of palm placement in which practitioners transfer universal energy through their palms, which may help the recipients heal and achieve a state of wellbeing and balance.*

Using systematized hand-placements on the recipients' chakras or energy centers, Reiki masters can induce a holistic healing effect at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. The life force energy flows through the practitioner's hands to the recipient through the seven chakras

The word chakra means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit. There are seven main chakras located from the base of the spine to the top of the head in the human body. All these chakras correlate to different organs/parts of the body. These chakras receive prana or life-force energy and help in the physical functioning of our bodies. Chakras have a direct connection to our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They can be overactive, underactive, or in balance. Chakras need to be in harmonious balance and Reiki can help achieve exactly that.

Reiki opens the chakras and clears any blockages, restoring the harmonious flow of life force energy.

Reiki works in conjunction with other medicinal/therapeutic techniques to promote healing. It has been used for more than 90 years and its popularity is only growing.*

According to the American Hospital Association in 2007, about 15 percent, or over 800 American hospitals offered Reiki as a part of their services. There are 76 hospitals, medical clinics, and hospice programs where Reiki is offered as a part of standard care.
